Scholarship/Bursary Program

Although the Reston & Area Foundation was granted charity status in 2004, only interest from the fund could be expended. The Cecil and Helen Brownlee Scholarship was established in 2010 through a generous donation from their family and the Foundation will award an annual scholarship from this fund as well.

Community Grants Program

The first year that interest had accumulated sufficiently to begin taking applications for grants for community projects was 2007.  By then the Board had developed policies to guide the processing of applications.  In the first 3 years of grantmaking, over $48,000 has been assigned to 23 projects.
